Bishop Dawn R. Brown

Bishop Dawn R. Brown is the founder of Cathedral of Holiness Missionary Baptist Church in Pennsville, NJ and retired as its pastor in September 2024. Consecrated as a Bishop under Ruwach United Fellowship Inc. on November 28th 2009, she has also held roles such as Director of Finance and Missions. She is also the president and CEO of the Cathedral Community Development Corporation and Director of Code Blue Salem County. Additionally, she serves as Treasurer of Christ Cares Covenant Fellowship, Vice-Chair of the American Red Cross of South Jersey, and regional DEI liaison. 

Licensed to preach in 1983 and ordained in 1994, Bishop Brown hails from Philadelphia, PA. She holds a BA in broadcast communication with a minor in business administration from Geneva College and studied at Palmer Theological Seminary. After retiring from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts in 2011, she continues to serve as a proctor for the PA Board of Law Examiners. Her extensive community involvement includes serving as Vice President of Family Promise of Salem County, a board member with Habitat for Humanity – Salem County, and Chair of Faith Works of United Way of Salem County.

Bishop Brown’s leadership extends internationally. She organized the first Ruwach United Fellowship International Conference in Cape Town and Atlantis, South Africa, in 2012, returning for missions in 2014, 2016, and 2024. She also led a mission trip to Bangalore, India, in 2015 and coordinated the Cathedral Junior Missionaries’ trip to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota in 2014. In October 2015, she launched a prison ministry at SCI Benner, an all-male prison in Pennsylvania.

Her accolades include the 2018, 2019, and 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards for her community service efforts. She was instrumental in establishing Salem County’s first Code Blue initiative to assist the homeless during extreme weather conditions. Passionate about empowering women affected by domestic violence, she founded Dawn R. Brown Ministries to provide support and healing for women and young girls experiencing trauma.

Bishop Brown is married to Scott Brown, and together they cherish their family: children Bryant (Kelly), Ryan (Yari), and Jessica, as well as grandchildren Amiyah, Azariah, Elijah, and Ayla. Bishop Brown’s life exemplifies steadfast dedication to faith, service, and community, leaving an enduring legacy of leadership and compassion.

We provide temporary shelter in designated “Warming Centers” for unhoused individuals when temperatures drop dangerously low or frozen precipitation is expected during the overnight hours.
